Oconee Driving SchoolOpen Road Services is uniquely positioned to be the first comprehensive risk reduction and driver services program in Oconee County. Having worked in public education and private counseling practice, the owners are well equipped to offer such services to teens and adults in the greater Athens area. Drs. Murphy and Johnson have the knowledge, experience, and especially the enthusiasm needed to provide a safe, professional and engaging learning environment. They have supervised individuals ranging in age from adolescence to adulthood and across many disciplines. They are both trained, certified, and will teach all courses offered at Open Road Services.

Dr. Cindy Murphy

Oconee Driving SchoolOver the past 18 years, Dr. Murphy has worked with adolescents, college students, and families in a variety of settings. She has taught numerous DUI courses through mental health services and coordinated an intensive substance abuse program. She has also provided clinical supervision to practicing counselors in Alabama and Georgia. She currently works as a school counselor in the Athens area.

Dr. Murphy attended Auburn University for her undergraduate and both graduate degrees. She holds a B.A. in psychology, an M.Ed. in counseling and counseling psychology-community agency counseling, and a PhD in counselor education and supervision.  She is an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), National Certified School Counselor (NCSC), certified school counselor (Georgia), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-Georgia), and National Certified Counselor (NCC).

Dr. Elise Johnson

Oconee Driving SchoolFor the past 15 years, Dr. Johnson has worked in various educational settings, court services, and private practice.  Her experience includes working with high school students, college students in career planning and development, adults in life and career transition, adjudicated youth in residential placement, and female survivors of domestic violence.

Dr. Johnson earned a B.S. degree in biology/psychology from Birmingham-Southern College. She holds an M.S. in counseling-college student personnel from Shippensburg University and a PhD in counselor education and supervision from Auburn University. She is an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), certified school counselor (Georgia), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-Georgia), and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She currently works as a high school counselor.
